An excellent education system and attractive training and study offerings

The Mayen-Koblenz district offers a forward-looking and modern educational offering that is intended to prepare young people for their future professional life. The district’s broad educational system consists of 100 education institutions, among them 20 advanced secondary schools that allow for comprehensive provision. Education tailored to individual skills is guaranteed thanks to the existence of many different school types (Gymnasium [college preparatory high school], integrierte Gesamtschule [integrated comprehensive school], Realschule Plus [intermediate secondary school], Förderschule [special school]). As the cost bearer, the district provides these schools with the equipment necessary for future development. Following the technological change, all schools were integrated into a newly designed computer network district-wide in 2017 to offer a secure network environment for information and communication technologies to acquire digital components.

Furthermore, some Gymnasiums provide individual school profiles by setting priorities in the field of foreign languages. For instance, this enables the attainment of the French Baccalaurát at a school or even a bilingual education. Additional specializations can particularly be found in the field of scientific subjects and sports. There are also educational offerings for children with physical disabilities, especially in conjunction with an inclusive education.

Furthermore, there is an availability of integrated comprehensive schools that allow for a school career with a flexible school-leaving qualification and Realschule Pluses, which are characterized by early career orientation and career-related electives. Thanks to collaborations with regionally based businesses, career entry is made easier during internships. Special schools offer individual support to students that require special pedagogical assistance, tailored to the learning and performance level, where both scholarly content is taught and assistance for day-to-day life is provided.
