In 2020, a total of 1,176 young people (762 male / 414 female) signed a training contract in the district of Mayen-Koblenz, 63 fewer than in the previous year. Nationwide, there were 465,200, 9.4 percent fewer than in 2019. Training figures have been declining for several years, but this result shows a clear effect of the pandemic on the training market.

In Mayen-Koblenz, the occupation most frequently chosen for training in 2020 was office management assistant, while the most popular occupation in Germany was automotive mechatronics technician.
As in the previous year, training as an office management assistant was also the most popular occupation among women in the district and throughout Germany, while among men in the district it was plant mechanic for sanitary, heating and air conditioning technology and throughout Germany it was motor vehicle mechatronics technician.

In the 2019/20 winter semester, there were a total of 4,705 students (77 more than in the previous year), 2,322 of whom were male, who obtained their higher education entrance qualification (HZB) in Mayen-Koblenz. Of these, a total of 2,318 (1,176 male / 1,142 female) decided to study in Rhineland-Palatinate, which is 49.3% (1% less than in the previous year). In addition to the universities in Rhineland-Palatinate, those eligible to study in Mayen-Koblenz most frequently chose universities in the neighboring states of North Rhine-Westphalia (27 %, increase of 0.4 % compared to the previous year), Hesse (7.2 %, decrease of 0.1 % compared to the previous year) and Baden-Württemberg (5.4 %, increase of 0.3 % compared to the previous year).

In the 2019/20 winter semester, 2,318 of a total of 4,705 students from Mayen-Koblenz (of which 334 were first-year students) opted to study in Rhineland-Palatinate, or 49.3%. Overall, this was 11 fewer than in the previous year.

In the 2019/20 winter semester, a total of 2,318 students from Mayen-Koblenz (1,276 male / 1,142 female) decided to study in Rhineland-Palatinate, 11 fewer than in the previous year. The most popular place to study is Koblenz with 54.2% (increase of 1.6% compared to the previous year), followed by Trier (11.7%, decrease of 0.8% compared to the previous year) and Mainz (11.6%, increase of 0.2% compared to the previous year).

In the 2019/20 winter semester, 17,479 young people enrolled at one of Rhineland-Palatinate's universities for the first time, 1,216 fewer than in the previous year.
In total, there were 123,200 students in winter semester 2019/20, 793 fewer than in the winter semester of the previous year.
