Support for regional development and innovation

by the Middle Rhine Economic Development Corporation

The Wirtschaftsförderungsgesellschaft am Mittelrhein(WFG) is committed to the sustainable development and strengthening of the regional economy in the district of Mayen-Koblenz. The focus is on the areas of innovation, digitalization and knowledge transfer in order to ensure the competitiveness of companies and the future viability of the region. The WFG offers companies, municipalities and institutions support in various key areas of activity.

Knowledge management

In view of demographic change and advancing digitalization, the efficient management of knowledge is becoming increasingly important. Since 2010, the WFG, together with the Competence Centre for Knowledge Management at Koblenz University of Applied Sciences, has supported numerous projects that help companies to strategically secure, digitize and pass on their knowledge resources. The aim is to strengthen the innovative power of companies and promote their long-term growth.

Smart region MYK10

As part of the nationwide model project "Smart Cities", the district of Mayen-Koblenz is developing innovative digital and analog solutions for urban and rural areas until 2027. Under the project title "Smart Region MYK10", future topics such as sustainable mobility, digitalization and the networking of people and companies in the region are being driven forward. A particular focus is on the so-called RegioHubs, multifunctional innovation and meeting centers that promote exchange and cooperation in the region.

Digitization and DigiMit²

Digitalization is essential for SMEs in the Mayen-Koblenz district in order to remain competitive. Digital technologies optimize processes, reduce costs and enable new business models. DigiMit², a competence center managed by Koblenz University of Applied Sciences, offers free support for digital transformation. The DigiTruck demonstrates digital technologies on site, and the DigiCheck analyses the digitalization status of companies. Through networking and cross-industry exchange, DigiMit² promotes innovation and helps companies to master the challenges of digitalization.

Energy and hydrogen network

As part of the HyStarter programme, Bendorf 2022/2023 developed a concept for a decentralized hydrogen economy together with the WFG and partners. The goals of the network are the development of the port of Bendorf as a hydrogen hub, the expansion of the hydrogen infrastructure and the decarbonization of industry, transport and the heating sector.
