MINT region Mayen-Koblenz
MINT regions are regional networks dedicated to the promotion of mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology (MINT). The Mayen-Koblenz MINT region was created as part of the "Development and expansion of MINT regions and MINT projects" funding competition. This funding competition was announced by the Rhineland-Palatinate office, which is made up of the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Science and Health, the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Transport, Agriculture and Viticulture and the Ministry of Climate Protection, Environment, Energy and the Environment.
The MINT region of Mayen-Koblenz is constantly working on expanding the existing MINT potential in the district, bringing MINT stakeholders together, developing projects for those interested in MINT along the education chain and ensuring more intensive networking. The district of Mayen-Koblenz also acts as a regional sponsor and is the direct contact for the regional program schools KiTec, IT2School and City4Future.
The MINT region of Mayen-Koblenz has established an overarching MINT network. This network coordinates the activities of the various players in the STEM field and implements measures to secure skilled workers and projects in STEM education. The key strategic objectives include
- Ensuring early STEM support
- Coordinating STEM along the education chain
- Enabling STEM experiences
- Increase regional transparency of offers and highlight career and professional opportunities
MINT Day of the WFG on the Middle Rhine
The "MINT Days" initiative of the WFG on the Middle Rhine was developed from the "MINT Regions" funding project and aims to give young people from the 7th grade onwards an understanding of the diverse career opportunities in MINT professions and to awaken their enthusiasm for these promising professional fields.
What is MINT Day?
The MINT Day offers school classes the opportunity to visit a regional MINT company for a morning. The young people are immersed in everyday working life, learn about various training occupations and gain authentic insights into career opportunities through direct interaction with trainees and employees. These experiences are designed to break down inhibitions and encourage a lasting interest in STEM professions.
Advantages for companies, schools & parents
The MINT Day offers companies the opportunity to present themselves as attractive employers in the region and to establish contact with potential young talent at an early stage. Through direct interaction with young people, companies can present their training opportunities and the wide range of career opportunities in their company.
For schools, the STEM Day is a valuable addition to regular lessons. It provides practical insights into the world of work and supports pupils' career guidance. Teachers have the opportunity to enrich their lessons with practical experience and increase the students' motivation.
Parents want to prepare their children for the future in the best possible way. The STEM Day helps by showing young people realistic prospects. Parents can be sure that their children are well informed and motivated for their professional future.
