Recruiting and securing skilled workers

Every company needs qualified employees. Demographic change and the accompanying shortage of skilled workers is also making itself felt in the district of Mayen-Koblenz. Qualified workers are in demand, and the competition for good minds will continue to increase in the coming years.

Workshops for companies

The WFG and the Skilled Workers Alliance regularly offer workshops on the topics of recruiting and retaining employees, work-life balance, securing young talent and digitalization. The workshops are geared towards the current needs of companies and help to counteract the shortage of skilled workers. Every year, companies are asked about key topics and these are then worked on together. So far, the topics of employee recruitment, Generation Y, employer marketing, corporate culture, employee retention, personnel management, fringe benefits, vacation care, communication and leadership, health promotion, reconciliation of family and career in the event of care and change processes in the context of digitalization have been addressed.

Offers and trade fairs

In times of a shortage of skilled workers, efficient recruitment plays an important role. Recruitment should start as early as possible in order to directly reach the highly sought-after target group of future specialists and managers. The WFG therefore recommends that companies make contact with pupils and students at an early stage in order to gain a competitive advantage in the recruitment of promising young talent. This is why the WFG regularly advertises the region's companies at bonding fairs, for example.

Movie

Companies must increasingly position themselves as an attractive employer in the competition for specialists and managers. To this end, the WFG has produced a film that presents our great region and shows the various career opportunities. Interested companies can download the film and use it to supplement their own advertising materials when recruiting.

Mayen-Koblenz Skilled Workers Alliance

The Mayen-Koblenz Skilled Workers Alliance, initiated by the WFG in 2014, supports companies in the Mayen-Koblenz district with measures to recruit and secure skilled workers. The aim is to reduce the operational impact of the shortage of skilled workers.

Employer brand MYK AUF ZACK

With a new regional employer brand for the district of Mayen-Koblenz, the WFG wants to show young people the diverse career opportunities in the region. Companies can find out more about MYK AUF ZACK as an attractive employer and thus increase the visibility of the company among young people.

Analyses and studies

The WFG commissions expert reports on specific topics relating to skilled workers in order to identify support services and the need for action. In recent years, for example, studies have been carried out on the skilled labor situation in the district.
