Industrial and commercial sites in the Koblenz region

Improving the economic structure of the region is a voluntary communal task – unlike the social appropriation of funds, which must take priority. If the most important, but also the most expensive, aspect of communal economic development – i.e. land management – is to be continued despite the lack of money, individual solutions outside of communal budgets must be found.

For this reason, the "Strukturentwicklungsgesellschaft am Mittelrhein mbH" (known as "strueg", for short) was co-founded in 1994 by the district of Mayen-Koblenz and the city of Koblenz. This association develops and implements strategies for improving economic and social structures in the Koblenz region. "strueg" defines its goal as providing support and assistance to SMEs. In times when communal authorities have few resources at their disposal, "strueg" aims to use private funds to strengthen economic and social structures in the region.

strueg makes use of various strategies in its work. It advises regional authorities in order to create optimal conditions for developing the area's economic structure, it identifies suitable locations, it campaigns for the appropriate location of industrial and commercial enterprises, and it develops industrial and commercial estates of its own accord.

• "Vor dem Gülser Weg" industrial estate, Bassenheim (at the Koblenz motorway interchange)
• Koblenz-Metternich business park (close to the B9 road and IKEA)

In addition, strueg has developed a residential area in St. Johann, close to Mayen, in order to make reasonably-priced building land available. Two sites are still up for sale in the "Im Dömpel" development.
