The economy needs a strong partner

Wirtschaftsförderungsgesellschaft am Mittelrhein (WFG) was founded on 14 July 1971 as a GmbH (i.e. a limited company) under private law. Since its foundation, the shareholders have been the district of Mayen-Koblenz, Sparkasse Koblenz and Kreissparkasse Mayen. The company is 95.8% owned by the district of Mayen-Koblenz, with Sparkasse Koblenz and Kreissparkasse Mayen each owning a 2.1% share.

Over the past few decades, WFG has successfully guided and promoted structural change in the district of Mayen-Koblenz. The district's industrial base has changed from a one-sided monostructure consisting mainly of the minerals industry – which, however, is still an important component of the regional economy – into a well-balanced mixture of sectors, which include mechanical engineering, the food industry, and timber and metal processing. The packaging sector together with the logistics and IT sector is a particularly strong area. This is where WFG's cluster initiative comes into play, whereby the sector's companies are to be pooled in such a way that they can succeed together and benefit from each other.

Professional economic development and location support are of particular importance for the companies. Smooth collaboration between institutions, chambers of commerce, and agencies is the crucial factor that determines the economic success of a region. WFG creates promising and reliable conditions for sustaining and developing a mix of sectors that functions independently of economic trends.

WFG sees itself as both an interface and a coordination point between the economy, the administrative authorities, science and the political system. It is important that companies interested in setting up in Mayen-Koblenz receive the information, advice and support that they need. WFG can provide companies with quick, non-bureaucratic assistance when it comes to making investments, and can guide them in their dealings with public authorities and agencies.

Good advice doesn't have to be expensive: WFG offers free, but above all, fast, flexible and effective support that is always tailored to the individual needs of the partner.
